There are plenty of reasons to give meat the old heave-ho, from saving the planet to helping out our animal buddies, but one of the lesser known amongst them is the fact that vegans have better sex lives than the majority of their meat eating peers.

Could this be the reason why non-vegans are always so down on us plant lovers? Are they really taking their frustrations out on us?

Sounds plausible to us. 🙂

So, we thought that it would only be fair to write an article explaining why vegans have better sex. Maybe, after reading this, you’ll be persuaded to ditch animal products for good and bring a little bom chicka wah wah back into your life (you can thank us in the comments section below!).

Oh, and if you want to help out a fellow human and make the world a better place, be sure to share this article with as many people as possible. After all, who doesn’t need better sex?

Let’s go!

Going plant-based makes you happier

First things first, happier people are more likely to get sex in the first place, so this is a great place to start.

Ditching meat and opting for a plant-based whole foods diet instead will increase your serotonin levels naturally which, in turn, will make you happier and heighten your desire to get busy between the sheets.

So, not only will you be more attractive to the opposite sex, you’ll also be more interested in getting jiggy yourself – it’s truly a win/win situation!

If you think that this is just a load of vegan propaganda, check out the Beezhold and Johnston study conducted in 2012 for Nutrition Journal to see just what restricting animal products can do for mood. (1)

You’ll look better, too

sexy couple

Adopting a vegan diet will not only make you happier, it will make you look better as well.

Eating a plant-based diet will improve both your skin and the brightness of your eyes, making you utterly irresistible in the process.

The increased intake of vitamin C and antioxidants that you get from the vegan diet means that your skin will be less likely to wrinkle, become softer, smoother and silkier to the touch, and your eyes will be whiter and sparkle more than they have done in years.

Now, who wouldn’t want a piece of that action?

Eating plants will liven up your libido

As we already touched upon in point one, increasing the amount of fruit and veg that we eat and removing animal products from our diet can make us happier and therefore increase our sex drive.

However, there’s even more going on than simply putting a smile on our faces when we opt for a plant-based diet.

Certain foods can have a direct effect on our libido, and the good news is that the best ones are common everyday vegan foodstuffs that you’d eat all the time if you take whole foods to heart.

Almonds, chickpeas, bananas, basil, figs, celery, asparagus, pumpkin seeds and pine nuts are all fantastic sources of zinc and vitamin B – both of which are vital for increasing your libido.

Is it really any wonder that vegans have better sex when they’re eating this stuff all the time?

Increased energy…and stamina!

man and woman getting together

The accounts of vegans stating that their energy levels are far higher now that they no longer eat meat are plentiful, and it doesn’t stop with being able to climb the stairs a little easier!

Sexual energy is enhanced largely because of the cleaner diet that they are eating and the fact that they are getting their nutrients from whole foods that release their goodness slowly rather than hitting you with a spike and then dropping you like a stone. Try eating a 16oz steak and doing anything but yawn!

Raw veg, especially those beloved green leafy ones, gives us vegans all the amino acids required for protein building, increasing both energy and stamina levels in the process.

Needless to say, this works both in and out of the bedroom; so now you know why we’re always cramming kale leaves into our blenders at every opportunity!

Improved male performance

plants improve male performance

Erectile dysfunction is a growing (maybe that’s the wrong word) problem in the west and many believe that it is our diets that’s causing it.

Eating stacks of red meat is not only detrimental to the environment, it can also be harmful to your sexual prowess, too, as high quantities of saturated fats have been found to inhibit the blood flow to the penis and heighten blood pressure. In other words, it’s the perfect recipe for impotence.

Sure, Viagra can help, but it isn’t the answer for everyone. In fact, an astonishing 25% of men that take the drug say that it has little to no effect at all. Worse still, ignoring erectile dysfunction altogether could result in missing an indication of other more serious problems, namely heart disease.

Dr. Terry Mason famously said in the wonderful documentary, Forks Over Knives, that erectile dysfunction is ‘the canary in the coal mine’ when it comes to predicting heart disease in male patients.

So, if you are experiencing problems down there, you really should go see your doctor to get things checked out. If you’re not having any problems, switch to a plant-based whole food diet to help prevent it from ever occurring.

As a welcome bonus, it will likely improve your performance in the bedroom, too.

Better blood flow for women, too

Eating lots of animal products doesn’t only affect men’s cardiovascular system, you know. Arteries are arteries, and decreased blood flow in women can affect the sensations felt by the clitoris during sex.

Maintaining good blood flow helps us become aroused because we are better able to transmit hormonal signals back and forth from the brain to the genitals, resulting in increased sensations where it matters. Even the size of the clitoris is affected. It is, after all, erectile tissue.

Changing your diet can have a significant impact on your enjoyment in the bedroom, and you’ll probably live longer, too. Bonus!

Better lubrication

All humans need water to survive, but for women the additional benefit of being well hydrated is clear when it comes to sex – the better hydrated you are, the more natural lubrication your body will produce.

Thankfully, a lot of the food that you’ll eat when you go vegan will be high in water, which is great for keeping your body hydrated and healthy.

Not only that, the high water content is also great for your skin, too, and can reduce the amount of wrinkles that you have and lessen dryness all over your body.

Now you know how people coped before KY hit the shelves!

You’ll smell (and taste) better

couple in bed together

Eating a plant-based diet can do some amazing things to our bodies, including changing the way we smell and taste – all without the help of expensive perfumes, aftershaves, lotions and potions.

There have been a few studies conducted with regard to the body odor we secrete when consuming a diet that is high in fruit and veg, and the results are astonishing.

Most notable was the Havlicek and Lenochova study on the The Effect of Meat Consumption on Body Odor Attractiveness conducted back in 2006. (2)

The results stated that those on a plant-based diet had significantly better body odor than their meat eating peers, stating that the smell was far less intense and overall more pleasant.

For the record, the study’s authors were both non-vegetarians at the time, so no conflict of interest there!

As for the taste side of things, studies are a little more random and less regulated. However, there are some who say that a diet high in fruits results in sweeter, less acidic tasting semen.

That being said, finding a control group to take part in tests has proved somewhat difficult!

Shedding weight can make your sex life great

heavy man showing his body

There are lots of solid reasons why those who are carrying a few extra pounds should lose weight, but one that rarely gets a mention is how obesity can potentially hinder your performance in the bedroom. (3)

Being overweight can lead to hormonal imbalances, erectile dysfunction, infertility and a whole host of obesity-related diseases that can affect your sex life, not to mention the possible self-esteem issues, less stamina and fewer sexual positions available when you’re on the heavy side.

A healthy diet that removes processed junk and concentrates on plant-based whole foods can help you shed weight faster than any gimmicky diet you might read about in the media. Best of all, you’ll not go hungry, as you can eat as much of the good stuff as you want and still see the pounds drop off.

So, if you’ve tried every other diet known to man, why not give plant-based living a fair crack of the whip? You might find some surprising and pleasant benefits along the way!

There you have it, that’s why vegans have better sex!

So, what are you waiting for? Get on the vegan bus and join the growing army of plant-based people who are enjoying all aspects of life to the fullest.

Oh, and don’t forget to share this with everyone you know. This stuff is too good to keep to yourself! 🙂

  1. I was convinced to go vegan but not by this article you can’t assume that every meat eater wants sex what if they were asexual ?this is not a way to convince people to go vegan

    • Its called a target audience, they’re not trying to get the attention of asexual people with this article are they. Cause its about SEX! there’s plenty of other articles they can look at.

    • then don’t use sex to go vegan . just use PLAIN OLE GOOD HEALTH like everyhone else. this is just a BYPRODUCT. but maybe you should keep eating meat anyway. being so pessimistic instead of OPTIMISTIC. but maybe veganism can help you have compassion and lean that way… for your own life and spirit sake to be better no one else.

  2. the taste and smell part is true. i’ve been with my boyfriend for 5 years and i remember hating the taste of his cum back when we were omnivores. lmao

when he went vegan, his semen had little to no taste (sometimes a lil sweet. yummy)

  3. Bro these results are real B. I’ve been Vegan almost 2 and a half years and it’s like aging backwards.
