What to Look Out for When Buying Vegan Snack Boxes

There are a lot of different vegan gift box providers, and each of them has a different set of purchase and product options. To get the snacks you want, when and how you want them, it’s important to take a look at the fine print.

Like what?

We’re glad you asked.

Subscription Details

When it comes to subscription services, most of us think of a monthly box. But many providers offer other options, as well. You might also be able to choose weekly or fortnightly delivery, monthly boxes for three or six months, or more.

If you do choose a subscription, it’s also important to understand the terms.

Do you have to prepay, for example? Or will you be charged for each delivery separately?

Can you pause service, or move your delivery to another date in case you go out of town?

Will your subscription renew automatically? And if you want to opt out of auto-renewal, is that possible?

And in the event that you need to cancel your service altogether, does the company make it easy?

Some companies don’t do subscriptions at all. And that’s fine…as long as it’s what you want.

Shipping Options

Food boxes are big business, and many of us expect that every company will ship to where we are.

But not all of them will. And some of them will ship to where you are, but it will cost you.

Before pressing “buy,” make sure to check the company’s shipping policies.

Specifically, make sure that they ship to your country.

Also, make sure that your food will arrive in a reasonable amount of time, and that the delivery charges are reasonable.

Delivery Charges

It costs money to send things through the mail. Some companies will absorb these charges themselves, — that’s what happens when you get free shipping. Other companies will pass the cost on to their customers.

And if you’re ordering from a country outside the company’s home territory, there may be additional charges on top of that.

Some companies offer free shipping on some or all of their products. Others may offer free shipping within a limited territory.

Most vegan food box services will be upfront about delivery and shipping costs, so look for that information before you buy.

Sustainable Packaging

Many of us go vegan for environmental reasons. And for the eco-conscious, snack food packaging can present a particular problem. What’s the point of splashing out for an organic, vegan treat if it’s going to mean more non-recyclable packaging material headed for a landfill?

So look for sellers who provide:

  • Minimal packaging
  • Recycled and / or recyclable packaging materials

What sorts of materials are recyclable? Here are a few.

  • Polyethylene film (2)
  • PET plastic
  • Aluminum
  • Aluminum film packaging (3)
  • Paper

And here are a few non-recyclable packaging types to avoid:

  • Combination of plastic and foil (some types of pouches)
  • Many plastic films

Keep in mind that just because something can be recycled doesn’t mean that it’s recycled in your area, or that you will be able to do so conveniently or easily. (4)

Price

Vegan snack boxes come at a wide range of prices. It might be tempting to go for the lowest price.

But the lowest price doesn’t necessarily mean the best box.

The quality of a product is more important than price, especially when it comes to food. For many people, a small quantity of excellent food is worth more than a larger package of lesser quality.

In addition to product quality, consider how well the products on offer fulfil your specific needs. There are so many options, you can easily find the combination of products tailor made for your food tribe and individual preferences.

Once you’ve found a few options that tick all of your boxes, then it’s time to think about price.

The Best of the Best

The best vegan snack box is the one that fits your needs.

That said, for our money, it’s hard to go wrong with CrateJoy.

Why?

CrateJoy has the biggest selection of products, box types, and subscription types. Moreover, they’re always coming up with deals and specials that can help you to save money while having good, clean, vegan fun.

There are a world of vegan boxes out there. One of them is tailor made just for you.

What do you like to find in your vegan snack box? Do you have a favorite service that didn’t make our list? Tell us about it!
